RITUXAN Initial Treatment Plus CVP: Controlling Follicular non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma for Longer
RITUXAN® is indicated for the treatment of patients with previously untreated follicular, CD20-positive, B-cell NHL in combination with CVP chemotherapy.
RITUXAN® can be used along with CVP chemotherapy as a treatment for follicular (indolent) NHL. And because they work to control this type of NHL in different ways, RITUXAN and chemotherapy may work very well together. What we mean by control is lower risk of progression, relapse, or death.
In a clinical study, RITUXAN plus CVP chemotherapy significantly shrunk tumors or stopped them from getting worse in some patients. And it kept them that way for longer. In fact, control was 71% longer (extended the length of time NHL was in control from 1.4 years to 2.4 years on average [with an 18-month median follow up]) than in people who received just CVP chemotherapy.
The most common side effects when RITUXAN was given with CVP chemotherapy compared with CVP alone were a higher chance of infusion reactions, rash, cough, flushing, shaking, itching, decreased blood cell counts, and chest tightness. RITUXAN can cause serious side effects, some of which can be life-threatening, including progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy (PML), infusion reactions, tumor lysis syndrome (TLS), and severe skin reactionsf. Be sure to read the Medication Guide and full Prescribing Information before each RITUXAN treatment.

“One of the things that helped me when I was going through the chemo and the RITUXAN is that the nurses were just wonderful, and they put me more at ease. They didn't deny that there was a problem but they said, ‘We can treat you’.” —Terry, RITUXAN patient
