The Goal of RITUXAN Plus CVP* Chemotherapy as an Initial Treatment: Control Follicular Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma for Longer

RITUXAN can be used along with CVP chemotherapy as an initial treatment for follicular NHL (a type of low-grade NHL). And because they work to control NHL in different ways, RITUXAN and chemotherapy may work very well together. What we mean by control is less chance of progression, relapse, or death.

In a study, patients who had CVP chemotherapy alone had follicular non-Hodgkin's lymphoma in control for an average of 1.4 years. Control was extended to an average of 2.4 years in those who had RITUXAN plus CVP chemotherapy.

RITUXAN, in combination with CVP chemotherapy, was tested as an initial treatment in a large study. One group received RITUXAN plus CVP chemotherapy. A second group received just CVP chemotherapy.

The study showed that, for many patients, RITUXAN plus CVP chemotherapy was effective at increasing progression-free survival. That means it helped control follicular NHL by significantly shrinking tumors or stopping them from getting worse. And it kept them that way for longer. In fact, 1.7 times longer than in patients who received just CVP chemotherapy.

Remember that results may be different for different people. Read the Medication Guide for a summary of the most important information about RITUXAN. Be sure to ask your oncologist which treatment options are right for you.
