Effective Ongoing Therapy for Low-Grade Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma (NHL) after CVP
RITUXAN Ongoing Therapy for up to 2 years After Successful Initial Treatment: Significantly Lowers the Chance of Low-Grade Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma Progressing, Relapsing, or Resulting in Death
For over 10 years RITUXAN has been trusted by oncologists and patients. RITUXAN can be used as an ongoing therapy for low-grade NHL after receiving CVP chemotherapy.
RITUXAN was tested in patients who had completed treatment with CVP chemotherapy and whose disease was stable or better. Patients got 4 treatments of RITUXAN every 6 months. And they were treated for up to 2 years after CVP chemotherapy. This large study showed that over a period of time:
- Getting RITUXAN as an ongoing therapy after CVP chemotherapy significantly lowered the chance that low-grade non-Hodgkin's lymphoma progressed, relapsed, or resulted in death. In fact, it lowered the risk by over 50%
How RITUXAN Ongoing Therapy Was Studied
In this study, RITUXAN was tested as an ongoing therapy in 322 patients. All patients had completed initial treatment with CVP chemotherapy. And patients whose disease was stable or better were divided into 2 groups. One group received RITUXAN ongoing therapy for 2 years after initial treatment with CVP chemotherapy. The second group received just initial CVP chemotherapy.
The study showed that RITUXAN as an ongoing therapy significantly lowered the chance that low-grade NHL progressed, relapsed, or resulted in death. In fact, it lowered it by 51% to 64%. The study also showed that RITUXAN ongoing therapy works for many different types of patients with low-grade NHL.
