Your First Course of Treatment
Rituxan® (Rituximab) is given as an intravenous (IV) infusion, along with methotrexate. If you’ve never had an infusion before, there are a few things you should know:
Tim—
clinical trial participant
living with RA since 1989
taking Rituxan since 2004
- Your doctor's office will schedule appointments for your first course of Rituxan treatment—2 infusions given
2 weeks apart - Each infusion will last several hours. You may want to bring something to help pass the time, like a book to read or some music to listen to
- Before each infusion, you may be given additional medicine, including glucocorticoids, to reduce possible side effects
- If you experience any side effects, talk with your doctor about how best to proceed with treatment
